Vintage Peddler was founded in Minnesota in 2018 by Kristie Lathrop. Since its inception, Vintage Peddler has grown significantly in both its size and the range of services it offers. Starting with a focus on cabinet painting and refinishing, we have evolved into specialists in kitchen transformations.

Offering a variety of services including cabinet door replacement and custom decorative woodworking. With each project, we continue to refine our skills and adapt to meet the changing needs of our clients. Our commitment to quality craftsmanship and exceptional customer service has solidified Vintage Peddler’s reputation as a trusted name in the industry.

Founder

Kristie Lathrop’s journey began around 2016 when she started refinishing old furniture that many would have discarded. She saw potential in pieces with good bones and plenty of life left, initially working on them for herself and her family. However, as her home filled up with these beautifully refinished pieces, she began selling them. This hobby quickly gained momentum, keeping her busy for about a year.

Her passion for refinishing took a pivotal turn when she decided to tackle her own kitchen. Despite the beautiful cherry cabinets, she envisioned an off-white finish. The project was labor-intensive and took over a month, leading her to vow never to do it again. However, after moving to a lakefront home—a long-held dream—she found herself in need of another kitchen update without the expense of a complete remodel. Once again, she refinished her cabinets, installed new countertops, and was thrilled with the transformation.

The real turning point came when a friend suggested she start her own kitchen cabinet refinishing business. Kristie hadn’t considered it before, but the idea intrigued her. Her first client, that same friend, was delighted with the results, and from there, word of mouth took over. Since then, Kristie has refinished over 100 kitchens and is booked months in advance.

To hone her skills, Kristie attended training sessions in Pittsburgh and Mankato, learning about the latest products and equipment. Today, Vintage Peddler uses top-of-the-line refinishing tools and materials to ensure kitchens look beautiful and last for years. Kristie’s youngest son has now joined the business, planning to make a career with Vintage Peddler. Kristie feels blessed to have helped so many clients realize their vision for their kitchens.
